February 2007: From Life

Plein Air & Figurative Studies

Axl T. Ernst and Cheryl Radford
Talbot Centre Art Room, 142 Fullarton Street
February 2007

My favourite subject to draw is the human form. Most people think of this as life drawing. But life drawing isn't just about drawing the unclothed human form. It is about drawing everything in nature, cats, dogs, birds, clouds, trees, rocks....everything. This show contain drawings and paintings "From Life" by myself and Tania.

I attend the live model drawing sessions, monday nights at the Arts Project . There, I met Tania who also likes to work from life. I belong to the Gallery Painting Group, a group which promotes painting on location in London and surrounding area. In July of last summer, Tania starting joining me on these paintouts. The organized paintouts by the group finished up in October, but we have continued to go out on location. Our anticipated winter paradise scenes have not materialized. Instead mother nature repaced our visions of glistening icicles and blankets of snow and with a grey, gloomy winter. We had one wonderfull snowfall in early December which disappeared as quickly as it came. We are still hoping for a real Canadian winter. This show contains works from our plein air sessions and the live model drawing sessions.
