Posting today, November 30, but sketches were done last night at Western Fair District Raceway. I'm not there to bet on horses or even watch the races, just there to sketch! Small sketchbook, and a few simple tools. People tend to sit still. The first page is just random people's sketches and the second page is a scene. Pencil sketch first of the room, then add the people.
For the last couple of days, I drew some feet. I have to admit... I hate feet. But, when figure drawing, you need to be able to draw them. Based on what I am showing here... I need more practice!!
There was another great model at TAP this afternoon. Those three hours of sketching go so fast! I'm changing it up with a new toned sketchbook.
This time, I altered my daily practice by creating a playful close-up of a cow. The artwork measures approximately 6" x 11" and is rendered on watercolor paper. My typical approach involves a swift pencil sketch, followed by ink scribbles with a black micron pen, and concluding with watercolour application. I also incorporated a few highlights using a white jelly roll pen, which extended the time spent on this piece.
More daily practice, this time some backyard birds using scribbles in my 8.5 x 11-inch sketchbook. I do a quick pencil sketch and then a black micron pen. It is freeing and fun, with no time for details.... just keep the pen moving quickly. Then add a little bit of watercolour. Each one is completed in the 10 to 15-minute range.
More daily practice, this time some famous portraits using scribbles in my 8.5 x 11-inch sketchbook. I do a quick pencil sketch and then a black pen. Each one is done in the 10 to 15-minute range. I am having fun with this scribble style, and it is very freeing. No time for all the details.... just keep the pen moving quickly.
