life study: from pose to page: a life drawing exhibition @ TAP Centre for Creativity
Exhibition Dates: August 9 to September 2, 2023 Opening Reception: August 19 from 1pm to 4pm Figure drawing is hard for many artists but rewarding when mastered; it requires focus, and hours of practice, and demands respect for the model and the other students studying the human form. The works in this exhibit range from gestures to more detailed renderings to capture the likeness or movement of the subject. TAP provides Life Drawing sessions to participants at all skill levels every Monday night and Tuesday afternoon all year long, along with monthly Costumed Life Drawing Sessions. These sessions would not be possible without the talented and dedicated life models who have posed for countless hours; their professionalism and support for this program are outstanding. We hope you enjoy the works created by our instructors, session coordinators, and dedicated attendees –these are the individuals who make us passionate about delivering this program. So pleased to have 6 of my figure drawings in this show!
The beauty of the exhibition lies in the fact that there are no restrictions on the subject matter or style of the artwork. Artists are free to explore and express their unique vision in whatever way they choose. This means that visitors to the exhibition can expect to see a wide variety of works that reflect the diversity of artistic expression.
Ultimately, the "In View of the Artist Annual Juried Exhibition" celebrates the power of art to capture and communicate the individual perspective of the artist." So pleased that "Cincy, Saving Me" has been juried into this exhibition. "Dogs are not our whole life, but they make our lives whole." – Roger Caras
"Everyone thinks they have the best dog, and none of them are wrong." – W.R. Purche "The world would be a nicer place if everyone had the ability to love as unconditionally as a dog." - M.K. Clinton Being a dog owner/lover, I understand how important all pets are. The loss of any pet is challenging. I have created a couple of sympathy greeting cards, one for cats and one for dogs. They are blank inside, so you can write your personal message. Our dog Buddy is getting a little older and even thou he loves his walks, he sometimes needs a rest break. So instead of letting him decide where to lay down (which could be halfway across a bridge or a road), I now choose a spot that gives me a place to sit. Buddy gets a rest and I get to sketch. Sketches are quick, done in a micron pen and water brush filled with distilled water and india ink, resulting in a nice grey tone.
Our book is available at various locations across London. And excited to announce that our book will soon (before Father's Day, in case you are looking for a unique gift for your father) be available at Chapter Indigo North London!! (Richmond Centre, 86 Fanshawe, London, Ontario)

Here in London, ON, Canada, Tuesday, March 7 was -2 feels like -9 degrees Celsius.

At the ROM, went to see the exhibition: Kent Monkman: Being Legendary, (Curated by Cree artist Kent Monkman, Being Legendary presents an installation of new original paintings by the artist alongside cultural belongings from collections at ROM). Interesting and educational. At the AGO, went to see the exhibition: Leonard Cohen: Everybody Knows, (An enduring artistic force, Canadian novelist, poet, and singer-songwriter poet Leonard Cohen (1934-2016) is renowned the world over for his meditations on beauty, death, loss and the human heart). Inspirational. Both exhibitions are worth a visit! |
